Scaling & Polishing

Scaling and polishing is a basic dental treatment, which is also known as teeth cleaning. Plaques and tartars can still build up even with daily brushing and flossing. The scaling process helps to remove these deposits that accumulate on teeth over time. After scaling is completed, the teeth are polished to remove surface stains.

Wisdom teeth are also known as “third molars”. They develop at the back of the mouth and usually emerge between the ages of 18 – 24. Most adults have 4 wisdom teeth – 2 on top and 2 at the bottom.

It is recommended to remove wisdom teeth that are impacted or difficult to clean as they commonly lead to these problems – infected and swollen gums, tooth decay and pain. Lower wisdom teeth in particular, seldom grow out straight and remain partially hidden under the gums. The result of that is often food trap, which in turn may jeopardise the health of the surrounding tissues and the neighbouring tooth.
